Australian illustrator Gregory Baldwin took line honours with his superb artwork for the Melbourne Bike Festival. The festival is held annually in Melbourne to promote bike riding as mainstream transport choice in Australian culture.
Gregory’s illustration for the poster includes the physical prerequisites of the brief and fulfils the spirit of the UCI championships with respect to the traditions of cycling poster design, yet retains a modern flavour with an eye grabbing use of colour. The cyclist is loosely derived from the ribbon like swoosh of the Melbourne 2012 logo.
