We’ve all done it. Looked at an ad on TV, a billboard poster or an illustration in a magazine and asked “How on earth did they do that?”. Well every now and then we ask one of our illustrators to let us in on some of the secrets to producing world beating images. South African illustrator Corrie Maritz takes us through the creative process…
“I was commissioned to produce this illustration for the BWIZ Advert. The client, Gavin from Red Cherry Advertising, supplied me with a conceptual rendering and we set about planning the execution of the image.
This time Gavin directed a Photo shoot of the scooter and I started modeling the Ice. I placed the Scooter pic into the 3D rendering and submitted for first draft. A copy of the reverts I received back is attached and this indicates where the image needed some tweeking.
A little more distortion here and there, add a reflection in the front of the Ice and maybe add a little contrast in places. Finally, everyone is happy and we are once again ready for print.
