We’re always getting asked if an illustration has been rendered traditionally or digitally. Check this one out from Denis Alonso. Bet you can’t tell which it is.
Okay, I’ll tell you. It’s actually rendered digitally but made to look hand painted. Which means it’s both cleaner and quicker to produce than conventional artwork.
I know the purists will be jumping out of their chairs and jabbing their sharpened 3B’s at the screen at this point, but be honest, you couldn’t tell the difference could you? And next time you’re asked to produce a book full of beautiful artwork on a tight deadline and limited budget, ask yourself this – could I do it quicker on a computer?
